The fifth diamond auction held in Luanda by the Angolan National Diamond Marketing Company (SODIAM EP) ended this Tuesday, 15th, with a collection of US$28.7 million. Around 40 global companies participated in the auction.
According to a note from the diamond company, sent to the Kianda’s mailthe total net amount raised from the auction was USD 28.7 million with the sale of 1,819.79 carats.
The fifth auction of rough diamonds in Luanda, whose evaluation sessions took place between the 24th of October and the 14th of the current month, at the premises of SODIAM EP, included the presentation of proposals, submitted electronically, until 10 am yesterday, on the purpose-built website (www.sodiamsales.com).
A diverse set of special stones were up for bidding, seven from Sociedade Mineira do Lulo which yielded USD 20.4 Million, (27) from Sociedade Mineira do Catoca which yielded USD 5.3 Million and (9) from Sociedade Mineira do Luele which yielded around USD 3 Million. Detailed rules of participation were provided to participants and markings for viewing were made on the website.
37 companies from the world’s main diamond markets participated in the auction.
