Angola and UNESCO this week in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, expressed their interest in activating the cycle of preparation for the third edition of the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace in Africa – Bienal de Luanda, to be held in 2023 .
The information was advanced in a note which the Kianda’s mail had access, who describes that the matter was addressed at a hearing between the Ambassador of Angola in Ethiopia, in Djibouti and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Francisco José da Cruz and the new Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office with the continental organisation, Rita Bissoonauth.
According to the official, UNESCO hopes that the III Bienal de Luanda will have as one of the main themes, Education, an important pillar for the development of humanity.
“The Luanda Biennale is scheduled every two years, with the objective of permanently and dynamically promoting a culture of peace that contributes to strengthening national unity and that implies an unequivocal, individual and collective repudiation of divisions and to the violence that affects, with serious political, economic and social consequences, in many African countries, especially in the Great Lakes Region, jeopardizing the strategic objective of silencing the weapons in the continent”, can be read in the document.
