More than 80 patients have already been treated by the urology services at the General Hospital David Bernardino “Kamanga”, the largest health unit in Lunda Norte.
Of these, at least five are suspected of having prostate cancer, advanced the specialist in Urology, Eddy Labrada.
Although suspected patients are still referred to continue treatment in Luanda, the specialist noted that this is the first time that a health unit in Lunda Norte has carried out follow-up, including examinations of cases related to urological diseases.
“All the diseases that have to do with the bladders and other areas of the male genital organ have received medical assistance”, he said, to emphasize that the consultations are ensured by two specialists in the area.
Most of the population assisted in urology services are men over 40 years old, however, the unit also serves the elderly and children with testicular malformations.
The evaluations have been processed through digital rectal examination, ultrasound and a specific prostatic blood test.
