The inauguration of the General Hospital in the municipality of Bula Atumba, province of Bengo, is subject to approval of its organic status by the Ministry of Health.
Approved last Thursday by the provincial government of Bengo, the statute comprises six chapters and 50 articles and a workforce of around 850 workers including doctors, health technicians and administrative staff.
Within the scope of the institutional relationship between the government of the province of Bengo and the Ministry of Health, every effort is being made to ratify the document as soon as possible, the director of Bengo’s legal office, António Monteiro Pedro, told the press. , at the end of the sixth ordinary meeting of the provincial government.
According to the official, quoted by Agência Angola Press, the hospital unit is 95 percent equipped.
The hospital will have maternity services, radiology, imaging rooms, emergencies, dentistry, stomatology, operating room, morgue, among others.
The first building stone was laid in 2012, under the public investment program (PIP) and included the construction of two blocks and two residences for doctors (type T2).
Initially scheduled to be built in 14 months, the works came to a standstill in 2014, due to lack of resources.
The municipality of Bula Atumba has a health network consisting of a health center and medical posts.
With an area of 3,604 square kilometres, the municipality is 184 kilometers from the city of Caxito (provincial seat) and has an estimated population of 16 thousand and 47 inhabitants.
