The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, swore in, this Thursday, the secretary general of the hemicycle, Pedro Agostinho de Neri, to whom he requested rigor and transparency in the management of public affairs.
Pedro Agostinho de Neri, elected MPLA deputy in the elections of 24 August, has already performed the same functions in the last legislature.
The leader of the Angolan parliament said that she had the experience and knowledge of the sworn in, “to help manage the institution’s human resources and scarce financial resources in the best way”.
“I hope that your oath represents your commitment to continue to serve the institution with parsimony, great rigor, transparency and that you place the national interest above all interests”, he stressed.
Carolina Cerqueira recalled, on the occasion, that the National Assembly has been guided by compliance with the Law, norms and good public management.
He highlighted the fact that Pedro Agostinho de Neri had once again sacrificed the opportunity to be a deputy (because he was elected), to whom he asked to help him at this stage, as he was new to the “house of laws”.
For his part, the secretary general of the National Assembly promised to continue improving technical and administrative services, in order to ensure that legislators did not lack anything.
He also expressed the need to modernize technological services, permanent training of staff, creation of a harmonized work environment, constant maintenance of the Palace of the National Assembly, among others.
At the ceremony, held in the Main Hall of the Chamber, the new heads of the office of the President of the National Assembly were also sworn in.
