The deputy and provincial secretary of UNITA in Kwanza Norte, Francisco Fernandes Falua, says he regrets the replacement of the former governor of Kwanza-Norte, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, for not having had enough time as the highest manager of the province.
The UNITA politician fears and says he doesn’t expect “absolutely anything” from the current governor Pedro Maquita Armando Julia, because he governed the province of Zaire with economic potential, “but he did nothing”.
“In my understanding, although we had no results in the government sphere, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho would need more time, given the fact that in governance, we have to have a period of observation, adaptation and action”, he stressed.
The deputy for the National Assembly for the UNITA list expressed his displeasure in an interview with Correio da Kianda, saying that Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, governed the province and, within two years, was replaced.
The opposition leader says that “at this level of exchange, we are not going anywhere”.
As for the appointment of the new governor Pedro Maquita Armando Julia, the head of Galo Negro in Cuanza-Norte, does not “believe in anything” of the current governor, as he was the top manager of one of the provinces with some economic potential.
“In general, the MPLA and its governors have had all the time to do something, Pedro Maquita is not going to do anything at all”.
The UNITA politician also believes that with the arrival of the current governor, the province will increasingly stagnate.
According to Francisco Falua, now that his party will have three deputies in the National Assembly, in the provincial circle of Cuanza-Norte, two from the provincial circle and one from the National circle, they will be in a better position to supervise governance and, if possible, reverse the current situation.
“I don’t particularly expect anything,” he said, adding that, at the moment, the people of Cuanza-Norte are totally saddened by Pedro Maquita’s appointment, for the fact that he governed a province like Zaire with a potential not to have done during his administration, absolutely nothing.
